The Musicians

David Everett
David Everett is an experienced and talented director and composer.  This will be his 4rd year as Conductor of the Milton Abbey Music Festival. Outside his work for the Festival, he is the director of The Orlando Singers, a talented chamber choir based in the south west. This group performs across the region. Last August the choir was in residence at Westminster Abbey and this summer the choir will be singing the services in York Minster. He is also Musical Director of Broadstone Community Choir – a choral society comprising over 70 singers.

David has run numerous choirs including the Manchester Bach Choir, Upminster Choral Society, The Wakeman Singers, The Tudor Singers of London, The Strand Chorale and Reigate and Redhill Choral Society.

In addition to conducting choirs he has conducted a number of orchestras and in 2001 formed the Wessex Chamber Orchestra that accompanies The Orlando Singers and also gives annual concerts in Christchurch Priory.

He has been composing since his mid-teens, and has written a great deal of music including numerous sacred choral works, musicals, music for school ensembles and vocal and instrumental solos. His music has been performed in cathedrals, churches and schools up and down the country.  In 2009 the Orlando Singers gave the world premiere of his Missa Brevis. He is currently working on a setting of the Requiem, which will be premiered in 2013.

When he is not making music David works as a freelance arts consultant. He has worked for Making Music evaluating major regional projects, youngchoirs.net as Project Co-ordinator for Singing Communities, fundraiser for various arts organisations and consultancy work for Dance South West, Bournemouth Borough Council and the Borough of Poole.
